Hong Kong authorities are actively promoting the documentary Four Trails at international film festivals to enhance trail tourism, according to Secretary for Culture, Sports, and Tourism Rosanna Law Shuk-pui.
During a Legislative Council meeting yesterday, Law emphasized the effectiveness of film as a promotional tool.
"The Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency is collaborating with overseas Hong Kong Economic and Trade Offices and film festival partners worldwide to promote this documentary."
Law said there are efforts to distribute the film on both international and mainland streaming platforms to attract tourists.Also, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department has completed enhancements on 12 hiking trails, with improvements on another eight expected to be completed by early next year.
In other developments, Law said the upcoming National Games are anticipated to draw over 100,000 spectators.In response to questions from lawmaker Kenneth Lau Ip-keung, she confirmed that the 15th National Games will take place from November 9 to 21, followed by the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the ninth National Special Olympic Games from December 8 to 15.
Hong Kong will host eight competitive events, including track cycling, fencing, golf, rugby, and triathlon, along with a mass participation event. The city will also support Zhuhai and Shenzhen in organizing cross-border cycling and marathon events.For the Games focused on athletes with disabilities, Hong Kong will host four events.
Law said authorities from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau are coordinating the schedules.wallis.wang@singtaonewscorp.com
