New year jackpot snowballs to $80m

To kick-start the new year, some people might want to try their luck for the big prize of the Mark Six New Year Snowball draw held tomorrow, the first prize for a single HK$10 ticket could reach HK$80 million.

Based on data, since the first time the Hong Kong Jockey Club held the New Year Snowball draw, the number "29" has been drawn the most, a total of 10 times out of the 35 draws.

Numbers "3", "5", "19" and "37" were also drawn eight times in a New Year Snowball draw.

The location could matter. The Jockey Club off-course betting branch on Stanley Street in Central has sold 47 of the top prize-winning tickets since 1994, making it the luckiest of all the Mark Six betting stations. The second luckiest outlet at Tuen Mun Town Plaza, which won 44 of the top prizes, followed by the outlets on Castle Peak Road in Tsuen Wan and Hankow Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, each saw 39 top prizes drawn.

The Castle Peak Road and Tai Po Plaza branch, the eighth luckiest in Hong Kong, has sold a top prize-winning ticket in 2023.
