Police drone leads to arrest of Sham Shui Po cyclist with $4,500 heroin

Police used a drone to assist in an anti-drug operation in Sham Shui Po on Thursday, leading to the arrest of a 65-year-old local man found with about 10 grams of suspected heroin worth about HK$4,500, authorities said.

Officers from the Sham Shui Po district special duty squad stopped the man while he was riding a bicycle on Boundary Road. The suspected drugs were found nearby.

The man, surnamed Lee, has been charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug. His case will be heard at West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts on Friday.

Police said drone patrols can cover wide areas quickly and monitor suspicious activity in complex environments, significantly enhancing the covertness and flexibility of operations.
