A multi-vehicle collision involving more than 10 vehicles on the Tsing Ma Bridge on Thursday morning left 10 people injured and caused significant traffic disruption on the route leading to the airport.
Police received a report at 8.31am of a traffic accident on the airport-bound lanes of the Tsing Ma Bridge near Ma Wan. The crash involved more than 10 vehicles in a chain collision.
During the incident, a seven-seater vehicle overturned, while another vehicle was seen emitting black smoke. Two people were initially trapped inside vehicles, prompting emergency services to rush to the scene for rescue operations.
Rescue personnel later confirmed that 10 people were injured, though all sustained minor injuries. The injured were subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment.
The scene was described as chaotic, with several vehicles heavily damaged. Debris and vehicle parts were scattered across the road, including a detached wheel. The overturned seven-seater lay on its side, while another private car was reportedly spun around by the impact.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

During the incident, the Transport Department announced that some lanes of the Tsing Ma Bridge on the Lantau Link toward the airport were temporarily closed. Motorists were only able to use the remaining lanes, leading to heavy traffic congestion.
Separately, the MTR Corporation said that due to the traffic accident near the bridge, train services on the Airport Express and Tung Chung Line were strengthened. The Tung Chung Line maintained peak-hour train frequency to facilitate passenger travel.
