Police and immD raid nets 35 in anti-vice and illegal worker crackdown

A joint operation by police and immigration authorities across the New Territories resulted in 35 arrests on Thursday targeting vice activities and illegal employment.

Codenamed CHAMPION and LANDMASTER, the raids involved the New Territories South regional tactical unit and officers from Kwai Tsing, Tsuen Wan, Sha Tin, Lantau, and Airport districts, along with the Immigration Department.

Those arrested included four local men, a Thai man, 13 mainland Chinese men, 16 mainland Chinese women, and a Filipino woman, aged 20 to 69. They were detained on suspicion of offences including "breach of conditions of stay", "aiding and abetting breach of conditions of stay", "uttering forged documents", "using another's identity card", "illegal employment of overstayers", "theft", and "employing a person not lawfully employable."

In a separate anti-vice operation in central Tsuen Wan, 13 mainland Chinese women were arrested on suspicion of engaging in prostitution and "breach of conditions of stay."

All detainees are being held for investigation and will be processed by police and relevant departments.
