25 arrested in New Territories South anti-illegal worker and vice raid

Police arrested 25 people during a joint anti-illegal worker and anti-vice operation in New Territories South on Tuesday, authorities said.

Officers from the New Territories South regional police tactical unit, the New Territories South drone team, and the Kwai Tsing, Tsuen Wan, Sha Tin, Lantau and Airport districts, along with relevant departments, conducted raids under Operation CHAMPION.

Those arrested included three local men, five local women, one non-Chinese man, six mainland Chinese men and 10 mainland Chinese women, aged between 30 and 66. They face charges including breach of conditions of stay, aiding and abetting breach of conditions of stay, using a false instrument, using another person's identity card, overstayers accepting employment and running a business, being wanted persons, and employing a person not lawfully employable.

Among those arrested, seven mainland Chinese women were detained in Tsuen Wan on suspicion of engaging in vice activities and breach of conditions of stay.

All suspects are being detained for investigation, with some to be handed over to relevant departments for further action.
