Man arrested in Kwun Tong over suspected stolen car after erratic driving

A man was arrested for suspected car theft in Kwun Tong after his erratic driving attracted police attention in the early hours of Tuesday.

Traffic police on patrol noticed a Honda private car moving unsteadily along Wai Yip Street toward Cha Kwo Ling Road near Laguna City at around 2am. Officers stopped the vehicle at a nearby bus stop for investigation.

Police initially suspected the driver might be under the influence of drugs, but preliminary checks ruled out impairment by drugs or medication.

Further investigation revealed the car's license had expired several months ago. The male driver was not the registered owner and could not provide a clear reason for driving the vehicle.

The man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of "taking conveyance without authority" and taken to a police station for further inquiry.

The Honda was towed away for detailed examination by police.
