The Central Government has announced that Hong Kong will, for the first time, be hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Finance Ministers’ Meeting next October, while the APEC Leaders’ Meeting Informal Dialogue will take place in Shenzhen on November 18–19, 2026.
Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu pledged full commitment from the government to deliver thorough and comprehensive preparations, viewing the events as a prime opportunity to strengthen international ties and cooperation.
Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po highlighted the gatherings as a chance to showcase Hong Kong’s unique role as an international “super-connector.”
Academics noted that the close collaboration between Hong Kong and Shenzhen will underline the nation’s latest development achievements and provide a significant platform for the city to promote its financial services on the global stage.
