After a tough semifinal loss to Fujian's Xu Jie, Cheung faced off against Zeng Zhaoran in the bronze medal match. The fencer from Hong Kong showcased his prowess right from the start, jumping to a commanding 7-2 lead early on.
Maintaining his momentum, Cheung went on to dominate the match, clinching the bronze with an impressive 15-2 victory.

In contrast, Ryan Choi Chun-yin -- Hong Kong's first fencing world champion -- had a disappointing outing. He was eliminated in the quarterfinals after falling to Xu.
Reflecting on his performance, Choi acknowledged that he did not meet his own expectations, conceding that his opponent deserved the win. However, he remained optimistic, stating that he would use this experience to fuel his future growth.
