Fans crowds Kai Tak Sports Park as Mayday begins Hong Kong tour

Taiwanese rock legends Mayday begin their highly anticipated world tour to Hong Kong's Kai Tak Sports Park on Friday evening, marking a historic moment as the first Asian band to headline the city's newest venue.

As early as afternoon, thousands of devoted fans began gathering around the stadium complex, with many queuing for hours at the Airside mall's pop-up merchandise store, where exclusive tour memorabilia quickly sold out. 

The excited crowd snapped photos with life-sized Mayday figurines and promotional displays, creating a festival-like atmosphere ahead of the 7pm show.

Aside from today the concert series continues on May 10, 11 and 13.

Authorities have implemented special measures to handle the expected crowds, including additional MTR services and strict security protocols that prohibit long umbrellas in favor of compact alternatives.
