Hong Kong Boccia team wins gold and silver at Paris Paralympics

The Hong Kong boccia team continued their outstanding performance at the Paris Paralympics, securing a gold and a silver medal early Friday morning.

Boccia stars Ho Yuen-kei and Tse Tak-wah competed against the world's top-ranked Koreans, Jeong Ho-won and Kang Sun-hee, in the BC3 mixed pairs finals today.

The duo from Hong Kong, ranked third worldwide, took an early lead, scoring 3-0 against their top-ranked Korean opponents.

During the second end, the Korean pair staged a comeback, tying the score at 3-3.

However, a crucial error in their final bowl during the third end allowed the Hong Kong representatives to score an important point.

The Hong Kong pair then secured their victory in the fourth end with a final score of 5-3, clinching the BC3 mixed pair gold medal.

Three-time Paralympian Ho Yuen-kei concluded her journey in France with two gold medals, having also triumphed in her individual event.

Tse expressed his excitement about bringing home the gold, especially after narrowly missing a medal at the Tokyo games.

In another event, Annie Cheung and Leung Yuk-wing claimed silver in the BC4 gold medal match, after a challenging 1-6 defeat against Colombian siblings Leidy and Edilson Chica Chica.

The Colombian pair dominated throughout the match, particularly excelling in the third end by scoring four points.

With today's victories, the Hong Kong team has risen to the top of the boccia medal table at this year's Paralympics, accumulating three golds and two silvers.

They are followed by China with two golds, and South Korea, which has secured one gold, three silvers, and a bronze.

Overall, the Hong Kong representatives have garnered three golds, four silvers, and a bronze at this year's games.
