The inaugural Hong Kong International Cultural Summit, organized by the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA), commenced on Sunday and will run for three days.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on Monday, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said Hong Kong has always been an international city where East meets West and has long served as a bridge between Eastern and Western cultures.
He added that the Chinese culture, rooted in the city, harmonizes with the open and inclusive international society and economics to give Hong Kong unparalleled advantages in developing as a global cultural exchange center.
The Summit, held from March 24 to 26, invited over 20 distinguished cultural leaders from 12 countries and regions to share their insights on the exchanges and development of the sector.
Over 700 local, mainland and overseas leaders of arts and cultural institutions will gather in the West Kowloon Cultural District to engage in fruitful dialogues and participate in a wide range of events to experience the city's diverse cultural landscape.
