The official social media page of HKTVmall has been inundated with repetitive comments claiming to be from merchants, stating the platform has yet to settle last month's payments as of this Tuesday (Feb 20). HKTVmall dismissed the claims and asserted its financial position is robust.
The comments also accused HKTVmall of engaging in unethical practices by constantly modifying contract terms and coercing merchants into renewing contracts.
In response, an HKTVmall spokesman dismissed the rumors, stating the comments were untrue. At the same time, the company asserted its financial position was robust and that it disbursed payments in accordance with the contracts.
The company clarified that the last day of each month is the transaction cutoff date. Payments will be disbursed to merchants by the finance department within 10 to 15 working days after the cutoff date.
Regarding contract renewals, the contract states that merchants wishing to terminate their agreement must apply three months before the contract expires.
In the first year of a merchant's association with HKTVmall, the company sends a notification three months before the contract's termination to remind merchants of the renewal arrangements. For the second-year contract, automatic renewal is implemented.
HKTV added that it is important to note that the payment settlements and contract renewal arrangements have been in place for a considerable amount of time and are not newly developed.
Some internet users also pointed out that many of those commenting accounts are suspected to be fake, as their profile pictures are stolen from X (formerly Twitter) and Weibo, with the comments being identical.
