The match against Brunei, who are 190th in the Fifa rankings compared to Hong Kong's 149, will start at 8 pm tonight. Tickets are available for sale online and at the Hong Kong Stadium (HK$160 for adults and HK$40 for students and senior citizens).
Hong Kong's football team is still trying to get their first win of this calendar year after drawing twice and losing three times in 2023, with the recent match being a 1-1 draw in an international friendly against Cambodia on Thursday (Sep 7), who ranked 176 in the Fifa rankings.
Speaking to the press ahead of the Brunei game, Hong Kong head coach Jorn Andersen said the match on Monday will see fresh faces fielded, including young goalkeeper Tse Ka Wing and the newly eligible striker Michael Udebuluzor.
Andersen underlined his faith in the potential of 19-year-old Udebuluzor, a player for the German side team Ingolstadt II who received his Hong Kong passport last week.
Meanwhile, Brazil-born player Everton Camargo - another newly eligible player ahead of this international break who got himself on the score sheet in his debut game in Cambodia, is also set to impress local fans at home.
The game will be live-streamed on RTHK’s TV 32.
