More and more Hong Kong people prefer to head to China during the summer holidays, according to the statistics of a travel platform on the mainland, with Shenzhen being the hottest destination.
According to the data recording from July to August by Ctrip, the country's largest online travel firm, there was a 257 percent increase in tours from Hong Kong heading to Shenzhen compared to the same period in the previous year.
There was also a 301 percent increase in hotel bookings and a 447 percent increase in ticket bookings.
A tour guide in Guangdong said there were about 10 to 20 tour groups in one day, with each group having around 30 to 50 tourists.
A person in charge of an online tour platform stated that the Window of the World and Shenzhen Safari Park were the most popular hotspots for people in Hong Kong.
During the holiday, the ports also recorded new highs after the pandemic, with the Luohu port recording over 220,000 outbound tourists in one day on August 19, which was the port with the most tourist usage.
