Macau announced today that all schools, except higher institutions, will be extending their Lunar New Year holidays by several days until at least February 10, in view of the spread of a new deadly Sars-like coronavirus from China's Wuhan, RTK reports.
The education bureau said schools had been told to arrange for students to continue their learning at home instead.
It suggested private tutorial centers follow suit.
The bureau said it would closely monitor the development of the virus outbreak and make corresponding arrangements.
Macau's Chief Executive, Ho Iat-seng, said on Thursday that he could not rule out closing all of the gambling hub's casinos, as he announced a second case of the new coronavirus in the SAR.
