Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Monday, tracking the upward trend of Wall Street on soften US job market.
The Hang Seng Index rose 137 points, or 0.53 percent, to 25,805.
The tech gauge went up 0.85 percent to 4,899.
Pharmaceutical stocks outperformed the market, with WuXi AppTec (2359) and CSPC Pharmaceutical (1093) climbing 3 percent and 2.9 percent, respectively. Innovent Biologics (1801) and WuXi Biologics (2269) opened 2.1 percent and 1.8 percent higher.
Laopu Gold jumped 4 percent at the open, marking the best performance among blue chips.
Tech giants also edged up. Alibaba (9988) and Tencent (0700) rose 1.3 percent and 0.1 percent, while JD.com (9618) and Baidu (9888) both advanced 1.4 percent at the open.
