A one-month-old infant in Taiwan was beaten by his father because he looked like his grandpa.
The man in his 30s, who lived in the Xinying district in Tainan City, was suspected of flicking the feet of his one-month-old son and beating him in the abdomen with fists and a towel.
As the man did not like boys and the baby looked like his grandpa, he beat the infant every time he cried.
The report said the man abused his son at home late at night on May 2. His wife, after noticing that, secretly filmed it and sent it to her mother, saying, "I'm so scared, save my son."
The police received a report in the early morning and arrested the man at the flat concerned in Xinying district.
The infant was taken to the hospital, where he was found to have a large bruise on his chest, but it was not life-threatening for the time being. However, his liver index was overly high, suspected that he may have been poisoned. The case was still under investigation by local force.
It was said that this was not the first time that the man abused children. He had done it when married to his first wife and did not see any change this time.
He was now sent to Tainan District Prosecutors Office for domestic violence and child abuse and was ruled to be remanded.
Tainan City Government Bureau of Social Affairs said they had visited the family and were already granted emergency protection orders.
In addition to the baby boy, the man had two daughters, aged six and two, who were currently being taken care of by their grandparents.
The case has been reported to social welfare administration organizations, which will intervene in care visits.
