Concerns have been raised after multiple actors and film crew members went missing in Thailand, believed to be lured by the same person.
The situation came to light when Wang Xing, during a trip to Thailand, was abducted and taken to Myawaddy in Myanmar, an area known for its criminal activities. Fortunately, Wang was swiftly rescued on Tuesday.
Further investigations revealed that additional individuals were deceived into traveling to Thailand and subsequently went missing. It is understood that similar to Wang Xing, these individuals were arranged to travel to Thailand by the same contact person.
One of the missing individuals, actor He Junhao, had traveled to Thailand for a film shoot and subsequently failed to respond adequately to his friends' messages expressing concern. The selfie he used to prove his safety was also found to be from an earlier time. He, a former soldier and believed to have a heightened sense of danger, is feared to be another victim like Wang Xing.
Additionally, mainland media reported that a 25-year-old male model, Yang Zeqi, traveled to Thailand for a film shoot on December 20. He was last located near the Thailand-Myanmar border. The following day, he requested help from a friend and then went missing. During a video call to report his safety, he appeared with an eye injury, and after the call, his phone was turned off. His family has since contacted the police and sought help online.
The mother of a lighting technician in Zhejiang’s Hengdian World Studios also reported her son missing after he was called to shoot a film in Thailand. She contacted the police for assistance following a disturbing call from her son, who instructed her not to inquire about his current location and mentioned working 12 to 14 hours per day.
Netizens have identified the contact involved in these incidents as Yan Moulei, who first came to Hengdian in 2015. Initially working as an extra, he later became a martial arts instructor and acted in movies. He subsequently went abroad and engaged in fraudulent activities. Currently, Yan Moulei is not in the country, and his whereabouts are unknown.
