Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu visited the Hong Kong Museum of History on Monday and encouraged the public to cultivate patriotic sentiments by understanding the country's history.
Accompanied by Secretary for Culture, Sports, and Tourism Kevin Yeung Yun-hun and other officials, the Hong Kong leader visited "The Ancient Civilisation of the Xia, Shang, and Zhou Dynasties in Henan Province" exhibition and shared his viewpoints with the young people.
Lee expressed his gratitude to the Henan Museum and more than ten museums and cultural institutions in the province for providing more than 150 relics from their collections and hoped that the exhibition could cultivate citizens' patriotic sentiments and increase their understanding of national culture.
The Chinese Culture Promotion Office proposed in the policy address will be established this month and is planning to hold cultural festivals annually, featuring over 100 events, and organize community engagement activities that could appeal to tourists and locals who want to learn about Chinese culture, along with enhancing citizens' national identity.
