Around 478,000 travelers passed through Hong Kong's land control points on the last day of the Easter holidays, according to the figure recorded by the Immigration Department as of 4 pm.
Among them, 234,000 were arrivals and 243,000 were departures. About 183,000 outbound travelers were Hong Kong residents.
The Immigration Department expected to record 11 million entry and exit trips during the Easter and Ching Ming holidays.
The Shenzhen authority anticipated that the peak period for customs clearance at the Shenzhen-Hong Kong ports would be from noon to 10 pm.
They also recommended that travelers pay attention to weather changes and traffic conditions to plan their trip to avoid peak hours.
