The Two Sessions is set to kick off in Beijing on Monday, with some Hong Kong deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) saying they will suggest more measures benefiting the city during the meeting.
Hong Kong's sole member of the NPC standing committee Starry Lee Wai-king proposed to ask Beijing to raise the duty-free allowance for mainland visitors to 30,000 yuan, and was supported by some delegates.
The president of the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions Stanley Ng Chau-pei, who is also a deputy to NPC, said his party will make over 20 suggestions in the Two Sessions.
That included opening up more mainland cities for the multiple-entry permit to visit Hong Kong, as well as increasing the duty-free allowance for mainland visitors to 50,000 yuan with a maximum limit of 200,000 yuan a year.
Another NPC delegate, Ronick Chan Chun-Ying, will suggest the mainland and Hong Kong work on a more efficient payment platform to facilitate Hongkongers spending.
