A husband and wife got into a physical altercation over money on Thursday night in Tin Shui Wai and both were arrested.
Yesterday night (Dec 14) at 9.30, a husband and wife got into a heated argument over a monetary issue, which gradually intensified.
During the argument, the 41-year-old husband, surnamed Lok, slapped his wife twice, leading the 40-year-old wife, surnamed Wong, to attempt to contact the police for assistance.
However, she was prevented by her mother-in-law, which provoked Wong to angrily kick her to the ground.
Lok then got a knife from the kitchen in a fit of rage and threatened to slash his wife.
Wong then took her two children from their residence out of fear, crying for help along the way.
A pedestrian who saw the incident then contacted the police for assistance.
The police were alerted to the scene, and the case was handed over to the Yuen Long police district.
Lok was arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal intimidation, while Wong was arrested on suspicion of assault.
They are both currently remanded in police custody.
Wong, who suffered from discomfort in her head, and her 67-year-old mother-in-law, also surnamed Wong, who suffered from chest pains, were taken to Tuen Mun hospital for medical attention.
It is understood that Lok is a construction worker while Wong is a housewife. Their relationship had started to degrade this year and would often have disputes over money.
