A woman was rescued after she climbed over the railings to recover money she had accidentally dropped into the Shing Mun River in Sha Tin and couldn’t get back ashore.

The incident occurred around 1 am on Saturday when the 30-year-old woman was taking a stroll with her boyfriend along the Shing Mun riverside opposite Belair Garden.
She had accidentally dropped some money into the Shing Mun River, so she climbed over the railing in order to retrieve it. Yet, she later failed to get back ashore and cried for help.
Her boyfriend, walking ahead, then noticed and reported to the police. Other pedestrians rushed to the woman’s rescue before officers arrived.
Live sources said the woman sustained scratches to her limbs and was treated on the spot. She refused to go to hospital and left in a police vehicle.
