Images that circulated online on June 24 --- the day when Apple Daily founded by Lai published its last edition – showed that 13 books by Lai were on display in the “Librarian's Choice” section at the Shek Tong Tsui Public Library.
They included Lai's biographies and those containing his political views and business experiences.
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department stated that it would conduct thorough investigation on the incident, consult relevant departments and take appropriate actions in accordance with the established mechanisms.
Lai is currently serving a jail term of 20 months for unauthorized assembly. He also faces national security charges including collusion with foreign forces.
