Octopus Cards launched a replacement program yesterday for those who hear a three-beat "Dood-Dood Dood" when tapping their card.The deposit, remaining value and some associated services or offers, will be transferred to Mobile Octopus or the new card. People may choose to get a refund of the deposit and remaining value upon return. 
To replace it they can either transfer data from existing cards to Mobile Octopus via the Octopus App or Samsung Wallet App, or get a new card at Octopus Service Points.

Those who do not comply more than one year after the expiry date will be charged HK$20 per year, from the remaining card value and deposit, until it is depleted.
Octopus will replace cards issued from 2002 onward in batches monthly. Users can check if the cards are due to expire on the replacement program's website, Octopus's Interactive Voice Recording System and Octopus Service Points in designated MTR stations and malls. Registered cards on mobile apps will also receive notifications.
