The 2025 MAMA Awards returned to Hong Kong for the first time in seven years, opening its two-day ceremony on Friday at Kai Tak Stadium. The high-profile event, staged on November 28 and 29, is being livestreamed regionally on HBO Max and in Hong Kong via myTV SUPER’s tvN Asia Channel 505.
Chapter 1 of the ceremony wrapped Friday night with major awards presented to global K-pop acts, including BLACKPINK’s Rosé, ENHYPEN, and rookie groups CORTIS and Hearts2Hearts.
Actor Ju Ji-hoon presented the Song of the Year award, which went to Rosé and Bruno Mars for their hit collaboration Apt. Rosé, who did not attend the ceremony, appeared in a video message to thank fans for their support.
The night’s emotional peak came when ENHYPEN clinched the Fans’ Choice of the Year award.
The group, now marking its fifth debut anniversary, was visibly moved, with several members shedding tears as they accepted the trophy.
Newly debuted boy group CORTIS, which recently celebrated its 100th day since debut, took home Best New Artist alongside girl group Hearts2Hearts.
CORTIS leader Martin used the moment to acknowledge the victims of Hong Kong’s recent fatal fire. Member James Zhao Yufan addressed fans in English, saying: “We debuted only 100 days ago, so winning Best New Artist is a huge honor. Thank you to our fans for giving us so much support and strength. This is the first time we’re calling out our fandom name — thank you! We love you.”
