The city will experience very humid weather in the coming five days with relative humidity reaching 100 percent, the Hong Kong Observatory has warned.
Citizens may feel less inclined to go out due to the high humidity levels throughout the week.
Despite the high humidity, people were observed engaging in outdoor exercise at the Central Ferry Piers on Saturday, with some rolling up their sleeves and others wearing down jackets.
The forecast for today indicates mainly cloudy skies with foggy conditions, along with one or two light rain patches in the morning and at night.
There will be sunny intervals during the day, and temperatures are expected to range between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius. The wind will be light to moderate, blowing from the southeast, weathermen said.
The coastal areas of Guangdong will also experience humid and foggy weather in the coming days, with relatively warm temperatures during the day. However, temperatures will gradually decrease toward the end of the week.
The observatory has reported a maximum UV Index of 5 for today, indicating a moderate intensity of UV radiation.
Throughout the week, Hong Kong can expect a mix of sunny periods, foggy conditions, mainly cloudy skies and occasional overnight rain patches.
Temperature-wise, the mercury is set to peak at 26 degrees tomorrow and on Wednesday before dropping by 8 degrees to 18 degrees on Friday. The temperature will further decline to a low of 17 degrees over the weekend.
The northeast monsoon is predicted to reach the southern coast of China later this week and early next week, resulting in a drop in temperature in Hong Kong.
As a result, temperatures will progressively decrease in the first few days of next week, with the lowest reading expected to be 15 degrees and the highest reaching 18 degrees next Monday. On Tuesday, the minimum temperature will dip to 14 degrees, while the maximum will be 17 degrees.
Relative humidity will decrease to a range of 70 to 90 percent on Saturday and early next week.
Next week's weather forecast suggests mainly cloudy conditions with one or two rain patches and cool temperatures in the morning and at night on the first day. The following day will be cloudy and cool as well.
