As one of the most eagerly awaited movies of the year, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has captured the attention of superhero enthusiasts, with the movie likely to be Jason Momoa's last outing as Aquaman before he enters James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DCU as Lobo.
The sequel to the Aquaman franchise is once again directed by James Wan from a screenplay written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. The sequel features the return of Momoa as he reprises the leading role of Arthur Curry/Aquaman. Joining him are various returning cast members, including Patrick Wilson as Orm, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Amber Heard as Mera, and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.
It will also feature the introduction of new cast members in Game of Thrones alum Pilou Asbæk, Indya Moore (Pose, Escape Room: Tournament of Champions), Vincent Regan (300, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance), and Chinese-Portuguese actress Jani Zhao (Jogo Duplo, The Sugar Captains). Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is produced by Wan and frequent collaborator Peter Safran.
The trailers for the movie deliver a captivating narrative, showcasing Arthur’s son inheriting his father’s ability to communicate with sea creatures. However, the spotlight is on Black Manta, portrayed as a formidable villain in this installment. Armed with the Black Trident, Black Manta appears to be under the influence of a potent entity, leading to a significant and ominous role in the film.
To defeat him, Arthur, or Aquaman, will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.
Serving as the final chapter in the franchise, the movie promises a grand exit for Jason Momoa’s portrayal of the iconic superhero, with Moma seemingly determined to conclude the series on a high note.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set to hit theaters starting today (December 20), offering fans a cinematic spectacle and bringing closure to the Aquaman saga.
Meanwhile, Aquaman will be popping up in Hong Kong via a specially customized traditional Hong Kong sailboat - the first-ever movie-themed sailboat in the city.
From now until December 22 (Friday), the sailboat will be cruising in the waters of the city’s famous Victoria Harbour from 1 pm to 8 pm daily (2.30 pm to 9.30 pm on December 20). Don't miss the opportunity to take a snap with the superhero!
