Cha Chaan Teng chain Tai Hing will offer a 29 percent discount for all dine-in customers on Sunday, as almost 1,600 restaurants and eateries will provide a new round of discounts on the day 6.5 million citizens receive their second installment of HK$2,000 consumption vouchers.

Catering sector lawmaker Tommy Cheung Yu-yan announced that the industry will be providing discounts once again, due to the great response from the public from the first round of dining discounts on the handover anniversary two weeks ago, where more than 1,400 food shops and restaurants participated.
“I could see citizens smiling happily, enjoying delicious food that they had not tried before,” Cheung said.
This time, Tai Hing, a first-time participant of the discount offering event, will be selling all items on its menu at 71 percent of their original price if customers dine in their restaurants on the day. Citizens could enjoy this discount at all stores, except the one at the airport.
“We hope to see you all during breakfast, lunch and dinner time,” said the eatery.
Apart from Tai Hing, other catering chains such as Maxim’s MX will also be offering a 29 percent discount on its Hainanese chicken rice and roast pork with bean curd sheet set, allowing citizens to enjoy a meal for HK$41 and HK$38, respectively.
Like last time on July 1, Mcdonald’s will sell two pineapple custard pies for HK$11, which originally cost HK$20.
Cheung added: “Some restaurants told us that the revenue earned by selling discounted products cannot cover its net loss. Yet, we are still hosting this event because we want Hong Kong citizens to enjoy good food.”
Cheung said citizens should seize the chance to enjoy the upcoming dining benefits, as he considered these deals “economical.”
Meanwhile, a government spokesman said citizens who are eligible to receive the consumption vouchers on Sunday have been informed via a mobile text message.
If people fail to receive the consumer voucher, the voucher scheme secretariat will arrange the reissuing of the voucher to eligible citizens.
Citizens receiving the upcoming voucher installment via Octopus had to have spent all HK$3,000 from the first installment with the same card before June 30.
Those who have not spent the total before the end of June can receive the HK$2,000 voucher on August 16 at the earliest by spending completing the HK$3,000 voucher spending on or before July 31.
All citizens should finish spending the first installment of the HK$3,000 voucher by October 31 this year.
