Quadball players from the SAR are due to compete with a whole host of their peers from the US, Belgium, Norway and African nations in the Quadball (Quidditch) World Cup in Virginia in the US from on July 15 and 16.
Seeing them off in a ceremony, Hong Kong Quadball Association cofounder and sports director Thomas Au Ying-yau passed the SAR fl ag to two representatives of the 15-strong delegation.
Vice-captain and manger of Team Hong Kong, Chris Lau Kwun-shing, was hopeful that they would perform well in the competition in Richmond.
“I hope that Team Hong Kong will achieve its best-ever results in the tournament and make Hongkongers proud,” Lau said. Team Hong Kong is due to arrive in Richmond on July 13 for final training.
The Hong Kong team first participated in the Quidditch World Cup in 2018 in Florence in Italy and defeated Finland and Slovakia to gain the 25th place in the competition.
Chris, one last advice. Remember to pass the national anthem kit to the organizer there.
