Elderly man, 70, arrested in Lam Tin with $8,000 cocaine

A 70-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday in Lam Tin after police found 14.5 grams of suspected cocaine worth about HK$8,000 in his pocket, authorities said.

Officers from the Kwun Tong district special duty squad were conducting an anti-drug operation in Ping Tin Estate when they stopped the man outside Ping Chun House.

The man, surnamed Chan, was arrested on suspicion of trafficking dangerous drugs. He will be provisionally charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug, with his case to be heard at Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts on Wednesday morning.
