Man arrested with $2.7m of suspected meth in San Tin

A 32-year-old local man has been arrested for allegedly trafficking dangerous drugs after police seized about five kilograms of suspected crystal meth with an estimated street value of HK$2.7 million in San Tin.

Officers from the Narcotics Bureau conducted an operation in Lok Ma Chau on Thursday. They arrested the Lee surnamed man and found the suspected drugs in his village house and private car.

The suspect is being detained and will be provisionally charged with two counts of "trafficking in dangerous drugs." His case is scheduled for a hearing at Sha Tin Magistrates' Courts on Thursday morning.

Police reiterated that drug trafficking is a serious offence. Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, conviction can lead to a maximum fine of HK$5 million and life imprisonment.
