Hong Kong welcomed a total of 49.9 million visitors in 2025, representing a 12 percent year-on-year increase, according to the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB).
The HKTB said on Monday (Jan 19) that the city welcomed 4.65 million visitors in December 2025 alone, up 9 percent compared with the same period a year earlier.
Mainland visitors accounted for 76 percent of total arrivals, with 37.8 million visits recorded over the year, marking an 11 percent year-on-year increase.
Arrivals from non-mainland markets rose by 15 percent, with particularly strong growth from Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, Australia, and the Middle East, all of which recorded increases of 25 percent or more.
Short-haul markets including the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and India have recovered to, or even exceeded, pre-pandemic levels, the board said.
In addition, overnight visitors stayed in Hong Kong for an average of 3.1 nights during the year. A survey conducted by the HKTB showed that overnight visitors rated their overall satisfaction at 8.9 out of 10.
