A 66-year-old construction worker died on Wednesday afternoon (Jan 14) after being trapped by a platform board at a residential site on Shing Fung Lane, Kai Tak.

He was freed when emergency crews arrived and rushed to United Christian Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Another worker suffered a head injury and was also sent to the hospital. The Labour Department is investigating.
This is the second fatal workplace accident in Hong Kong today. In Tsuen Wan, three ironworkers were hurt when a hoist cage door opened unexpectedly, causing three gas cylinders to fall. A 29-year-old man later died from his injuries.
