The airline said the aircraft, carrying 284 passengers, departed Incheon at around 7pm local time. More than two hours into the flight, a portable charging device carried by a passenger suddenly ignited inside the cabin.
Cabin crew used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames, with the incident brought under control within one to two minutes. The passenger who owned the device sustained minor burns to the hand, while no other passengers were affected.
Asiana Airlines said the situation did not trigger emergency diversion procedures, and the aircraft continued its journey as scheduled, arriving safely at Hong Kong International Airport.
