In the message, King Charles and Queen Camilla said they were deeply upset to learn of the disaster and feel especially close to everyone who has lost loved ones or is living through fear and uncertainty.
They paid tribute to the extraordinary bravery shown by emergency workers and the compassion of neighbours helping one another, describing the resilience of Hong Kong people in the face of such a terrible tragedy as truly inspiring.
The royal couple extended their heartfelt sympathy to all whose lives have been so profoundly affected and offered prayers for the families and friends of those who lost their precious lives, as well as for the wider community as it begins to heal.
