Table tennis ace Wong Chun-ting will ignite the flame as the first torchbearer when Hong Kong joins Guangzhou, Macau, and Shenzhen on November 2 to launch the relay for the 15th National Games, with the route winding from Central Government Offices to Kai Tak Sports Park.
The organizing committee unveiled the roster of 50 Hong Kong torchbearers, blending sports stars, business leaders, and community figures.
Fencer Kaylin Hsieh will carry the final leg, while swimmers, rugby players, and other athletes round out the lineup.
Prominent tycoons including Chairperson of Henderson Land Development Martin Lee Ka-shing, executive director of Sun Hung Kai Properties Adam Kwok Kai-fai, Sino Group’s chairman Daryl Ng Win-kong, and New World Development’s executive director Sonia Cheng Chi-Man will also pass the torch.
Major institutions are represented too, with staff from MTR, KMB, Citybus, the tramway, Star Ferry, CLP, Towngas, and the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
Youth voices include alumni from the Strive and Rise Programme and startup founders, alongside volunteers, people with disabilities, and ethnic minorities.
Eight additional bearers come directly from the Games committee, including mainland standouts like national épée fencer Sun Yiwen, Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. president Feng Xingya, and a senior border inspector from Huangpu.
The 4-kilometer Hong Kong leg starts at 9.30am at Admiralty’s Central Government Offices, jogging through Tamar Park, Central and Wan Chai waterfronts, and Golden Bauhinia Square.
Runners will then hop a ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui, sprint along the promenade past the Cultural Centre and Museum of Art, and board an open-top bus for the final stretch to Kai Tak Sports Park—symbolizing the city’s handover to the Games opening on November 9.
