MTR Corporation has upgraded its navigation system at Admiralty Station with electronic street maps and exit displays that provide real-time guidance and QR code scanning for mobile navigation.
The new "Electronic Street Map and Exit Display" system connects to MTR's database and Google's database, showing updated facility information around the station. Passengers can search destinations by categories including restaurants, hotels, cultural venues, and shopping, receiving information about optimal station exits, walking times, elevator locations, and nearby public transport.
Annie Leung Ching-man, GM of Customer Experience Development, stated the system analyzes search data to prioritize frequently queried locations and supports sorting by alphabet or popularity. After selecting destinations, information boxes display recommended exits and estimated walking times.
The system features web pages accessible via QR codes on exit displays, allowing passengers to jump to their preferred map applications for real-time navigation. Developed over one year, Admiralty Station serves as the pilot site due to its proximity to office buildings, hotels, and tourist attractions, with plans to expand to other high-traffic stations.
MTR has also implemented AI technology across stations, including passenger flow monitoring at cross-harbor platforms and carriage occupancy displays on eight heavy rail lines. The upgraded MTR Mobile App analyzes user travel patterns with consent, providing personalized transportation information.

Virtual service ambassador "Tracy" now serves eight high-traffic stations, handling approximately 40,000 monthly inquiries with over 90% accuracy while supporting bilingual voice interaction. MTR is additionally trialing AI telephone systems with real-time translation to enhance staff communication with international visitors.
