Garbage truck catches fire in Tai Wai from cigarette butt

A truck caught fire in Tai Wai due to a cigarette butt on Sunday morning.

At 8.29 am today, a cleaning company truck was driving along Lion Rock Tunnel Road toward Shatin.

When it arrived near Worldwide Gardens, the truck suddenly burst into smoke and caught fire.

Firefighters responded to the call and extinguished the fire.

fter investigation, it was suspected that the fire was caused by cigarette butts igniting garbage in the cargo bin.

The garbage loadbody was blackened at the scene, but fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
