The move came as the city’s railway operator previously announced that 35 platforms, spanning across 13 stations on the MTR line will have platform gates installed to enhance passenger services.
According to the operator, additional measures were implemented at 93 locations across the three stations in view of the relatively larger platform gap while staffers carried out the installation work.
Such measures at the University and Lo Wu stations have been completed and put into service along with the installation of the platform gates.
The additional measures by MTR include the installation of LED light strips and steel plates at the platform edge. When a train arrives and the doors and gates open, the LED light strip will illuminate.
"Mind the gap" reminder stickers are placed inside and outside the gates, while "Yellow-black stripes" markings are added to help passengers navigate their way.
