Firefighters were called to Mong Kok after a store caught fire on Monday at midnight.
Around midnight, a closed convenience store located at the junction of Portland Street and Shantung Street suddenly started billowing smoke.
A nearby store employee immediately contacted the police for assistance.
Firefighters were alerted to the scene and used a tool to pry open the store's rolling sheet door. They found items on fire within the store.
One breathing apparatus team and a water jet were dispatched to extinguish the fire swiftly.
No injuries were reported.
After a preliminary investigation, no foul play is suspected, and the cause of the fire is believed to be an electric fan shortcircuit.
Due to the fire, the area around Shantung Street and Portland Street was temporarily closed off.
