East Rail Line services disrupted after platform canopy blown away at University Station

The MTR Corporation said train services between Admiralty to Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau have been disrupted on Sunday due to emergency maintenance work at University Station.

It was learned that at around 3.30pm, part of the canopy at the station's platform one was damaged amid the strong wind, with some blown away and disrupting the train services.

Trains have been temporarily using platform two for passenger boarding and alighting when the rail giant carried out the urgent repair works.

Trains from Admiralty to Fo Tan and Lo Wu operated at 7.5-minute and 15-minute intervals, respectively. Trains from Tai Po Market to Lok Ma Chau operated at 15-minute intervals.

The service gradually resumed about an hour after the incident as MTR said the emergency maintenance work at the station has been completed.
