A 25-year-old driver and two passengers died as the car they were in broke in two following a terrible crash on Tuen Mun Road in the early hours of Thursday.
The fatal crash occurred around 3.20 am when a Honda Civic Type R was running along Tuen Mun Road towards Tsuen Wan and making a right turn opposite the staff married quarters of the Correctional Services Department.
Police said the car lost control and crashed into the side kerb before bouncing off into the air and hitting the overhead sign gantry. The vehicle subsequently snapped in half.
Firefighters soon came and rescued the driver Tang who was trapped in the driver's seat, only to pronounce him dead immediately after.
The other two passengers – 26-year-old man Chan and 23-year-old woman Ng – were thrown out of the car. Both were rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital but Chan was eventually pronounced dead at 4.06 am.
Ng was later certified dead at 9.19 am.
The case is now being handled by the special investigation team of New Territories North regional traffic.
