Man arrested for possession of HK$8.7m worth of ketamine, crystal meth in Lei Yue Mun

A man is set to appear in court on Friday morning after being busted for hiding HK$8.7 million worth of ketamine and crystal meth in a Lei Yue Mun village house on Tuesday night.

The Kwun Tong police analyzed intelligence and conducted an in-depth investigation, mounting an anti-drug operation yesterday.

Officers found a suspicious man outside a Ma Wan Village house in Lei Yue Mun. They went forward to intercept the man and found around one kilogram of suspected ketamine on his person.

In the village house, officers were then able to seize around 2.7 kilograms of suspected ketamine and around seven grams of suspected crystal meth, along with tools used for taking drugs.

They then headed towards a Sam Ka Tsuen village house, which was suspected to be related to the crime, and seized nearly 10 kilograms of suspected ketamine and around 3 kilograms of suspected crystal meth.

A total of HK$8.7 million worth of drugs were seized from the operation.

The 48-year-old man, surnamed Lau, was arrested for trafficking in dangerous drugs and possession of an instrument fit for the smoking of dangerous drugs.

He is temporarily charged with trafficking in dangerous drugs and possession of an instrument fit for the smoking of dangerous drugs. He is set to appear at Kwun Tong Magistrates Courts tomorrow morning (Feb 23).
