The Greeners Action launched its 15th annual Lai See Packets Reuse and Recycle Program, allowing citizens to drop off any unwanted red packet envelopes at collection points.
With the support of 102 organizations, over 400 collection points are available until March 17 for the public to recycle the Lai See envelopes.
The group aims to collect 10 million unwanted packets and give them a second life in the Year of the Snake.
In addition, 18 enterprises signed an agreement to reduce printing and distributing Lai See envelopes by around 10 percent, totaling 1.6 million new packets.
The Greeners Action said they had collected and recycled over 79 million unwanted red envelopes - equivalent to 4,400 trees saved - in the past 14 years of the programs.
The group had distributed around 1.5 million reused Lai See packets, a 400,000 drop compared to the previous year.
