Four mainlanders alleged that Centaline Property misled them into purchasing a housing unit in Sham Shui Po District instead of the Kowloon City District, which has a prestigious school network. The property agency refuted the claim and stated that no evidence supports the allegation being made.
According to the online photos, the complaints held up banners outside a Fanling branch of Centraline Property last Friday to protest and ask for refunds.
They claimed that their initial plan was to purchase a home in Kowloon City to ensure their children's admission to the prestigious primary school network. However, the Centaline agents misled them into buying a flat in Sham Shui Po.
The mainlanders claimed that they were persuaded by seven agents - some with over 20 years of experience - to buy a HK$16.5 million Sham Shui Po apartment unit after three and a half hours, crushing their dreams of having their children study in traditional prestigious schools.
Police were alerted to the scene, and no arrests have been made so far.
Responding to the media's inquiry, a director of Centaline said the complaints asked them if there were units for sale in Seaside Sonata, and the agents had clearly stated that the apartment was located in Cheung Sha Wan, and the complainant decided to buy the unit.
The director stated that no evidence or proper basis supports the allegation being made, or there is evidence to prove that the allegation is true. He urged them to stop pulling the banner and keep in touch with the customer service department.
