Love is in the air as Chubby Hearts floats in Hong Kong

Chubby Hearts Hong Kong will make its debut in Asia from February 14 to 24 for lovebirds in the city to embrace the season of love, as part of the government’s effort to promote the economy.

To celebrate Valentine's Day and the Lantern Festival, the project - created by renowned British designer Anya Hindmarch, will feature the world's first massive floating red heart measuring approximately 12 meters in diameter at Central's Statue Square Gardens.

Daily flash mob displays of 3-meter-wide floating red hearts will also take place at various renowned landmarks and tourist attractions across Hong Kong.

The flash mob displays on February 14 will take place at the Flower Market in Mong Kok, the Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree in Tai Po, and the Belcher Bay Promenade in Kennedy Town.

Details of the displays in the following days will be announced at 7am daily at a designated website.

Chubby Hearts Hong Kong is financially supported by the Mega Arts and Cultural Events Fund, it is also the first project launched by the fund in 2024.

The fund, chaired by Adrian Cheng Chi-kong was established in 2023 with an aim to attract and support international and large-scale arts and cultural events to be held in Hong Kong.

It targets mega arts and cultural events organized by the private sector or non-governmental organizations in Hong Kong, with a view to developing Hong Kong into an arts and cultural metropolis.
