Seven-month-old baby hurled from car in Tolo Highway accident in critical condition

A seven-month-old infant boy who was flung from the car after a traffic accident in Tai Po on Sunday is now in critical condition.

Yesterday (Nov. 26), a 53-year-old man lost control of his 7-seater and rammed into the road divider on Tolo Highway near Classical Gardens at 2.44 pm 

The door on the left side of the sedan suddenly opened, causing the domestic helper and the baby boy to be thrown out of the car, as the domestic helper was not wearing a seatbelt.

The helper briefly fainted after the crash, with injuries to her face, arm, and legs. The infant was conscious and was rushed to the Prince of Wales Hospital wearing a neck brace.

The driver, his wife, and another friend were also all sent to the hospital for treatment.

The hospitlized infant, who suffered from chest wounds, is currently in a critical state.

The driver was later arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and is currently on bail. He is required to report to the police in early January.
