The couple are wife Wong Pui-shan and husband Lau Po-lun, both 35 and jobless, and the 25-year-old is insurance agent Lam Wing-sze.
They were charged with wounding with intent to occasion grievous bodily harm against Zhou Bihui, Li Jin and Li Kun on the 19/F at 182 Woosung Street in Jordan on November 15.
The case stemmed from a debt dispute that the mother Zhou allegedly cheated and swindled the couple out of some HK$500,000 during a mahjong game. The couple then complained to a Wo Shing Wo gangster and a brawl broke out between the two sides as the so-called “peace talk” failed.
Although the prosecution objected to granting the trio bail, magistrate Kestrel Lam Tsz-hong approved the defense’s application.
The three were then released on bail for HK$20,000 each and must surrender their travel documents, report to a police station thrice a week. They must not leave Hong Kong, contact prosecution witnesses or set foot at the crime scene.
The hearing was adjourned to January 15, pending further police investigation.
It is understood that the younger brother has been discharged from hospital. Zhou is still in hospital and the older brother remains unconscious in intensive care.
